William Shakespeare s Macbeth As A Tragic Hero - 1180 Words

Sometimes, not all heroes are flawless. Because of a hero s flaws, they could eventually turn to the wrong path. Set in the 11th Century of Scotland,William Shakespeare’s Macbeth displays how Macbeth is a tragic hero. He was once a noble and heroic being, but because of his ambition to be king, he kills the former king, Duncan, so he that could take his throne. Becoming king changes Macbeth to being bloodthirsty and overprotective of his throne, but also remorse for the ones he killed. Seen as a hero for defeating Scotland’s rebel, Macdonwald, Macbeth was granted Thane of Cawdor by King Duncan. The captain reports to Duncan and his son Malcolm of how â€Å"all’s too weak; /For brave Macbeth(well he deserves that name)† and Duncan is eager for Macbeth’s victory as he is a â€Å"valiant cousin, worthy gentleman† (I,2 17-27). Slaying a traitor for Scotland, Macbeth was seen as a hero and Duncan rewards Macbeth for his bravery. However, Macbeth’s nobility fades as he meets destruction from being too captivated for kingship. While returning to Scotland, Macbeth and his friend, Banquo, encounter witches claiming prophecies of Macbeth becoming king. After ensured king of Scotland by the witches’, Macbeth is tempted to take the crown. Macbeth whispers to himself while meeting with other lords and Duncan, wanting the â€Å"stars, hide your fires; /Let not light see my black and deep desires†(I, 4, 55-58) After being gr anted Thane of Cawdor, Macbeth became more motivated to become King.
